Babies receive some disease protection from their mothers before birth and through breastfeeding. However, this protection is temporary. To ensure long-term immunity, vaccinations are crucial. These work by introducing small amounts of a killed or weakened germ, or a piece of the germ, such as a protein or genetic material, into the body. This triggers the immune system to react as if there were a real infection, building up a memory of the germ to fight it off if encountered later.

There are different types of vaccines, including:

The Australian Immunisation Register can provide you with your child’s Immunisation History Statement which is a record of their immunisation status. You may also download it from your myGov account.

In Victoria, if your child receives a new vaccine(s), you’re required to provide an updated Immunisation History Statement to their childcare or kindergarten service. This keeps the service informed about your child’s current immunisation status.

Timely child immunisation could make you eligible for Australian Government family assistance payments. For more information, visit the Services Australia website or a Centrelink or Medicare Service Centre.

CHANGE TO CONSULTATION FEES AS OF 1ST JANUARY 2022

Starting from 1st January 2022, we will be introducing more Mixed-Billing for your consultations. As such, a small gap fee will likely be payable, but we are aiming to keep your overall ‘out of pocked’ expense to a minimum.  Weekend fees will remain the same as our 2021 pricing.

Our Practices have been primarily Bulk-Billing since their inception.  However due to increased costs associated with delivering services, this transition is necessary to continue providing you and your family quality healthcare.

Bridgeman Family Practice and Warner Lakes Family Practice have chosen to continue to subsidise your healthcare by setting our fees lower than the current recommended fee schedule set by the Medical Association of Australia (AMA).

We accept EFTPOS, credit cards and cash for your convenience. Please make sure you link your bank details with your Medicare card in order for the rebate to be deposited into your account within 48 hours. We will lodge the claims online after your consult for your convenience.

To help us reduce your waiting time for appointments, we kindly ask that you discuss only one item with your GP during a standard 15 minute appointment.  If you need to address more than one issue, please book a longer appointment with your GP.

Please note: Bulk-billing services will continue for patients aged 16 years and under; and all valid Concession Card holders*.  Please show your current concession card at each appointment.
