What Is Bulk Billing?
Bulk Billing means you don’t have to pay for your consultation — Medicare covers the full cost. It’s a simple, convenient way to receive healthcare services without any additional charges.
At Warner Lakes Family Practice, we offer Bulk Billing for eligible patients, which means you can focus on your health without worrying about unexpected bills. If you’re eligible for bulk billing, we’ll take care of the entire cost through Medicare, so all you need is your Medicare card.
How Mixed Billing Affects You
Starting 1st August 2025, we are introducing Mixed-Billing. This means that for certain types of consultations, a small gap fee may apply after your Medicare rebate is processed. We aim to keep these gap fees as low as possible to ensure that quality healthcare remains affordable for you and your family.
Bulk billing will still apply to the following patients (excluding weekends and public holidays):
Children under 15
Valid concession cardholders (e.g., Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card, DVA Gold Card Holders)
For weekend and public holiday appointments, a higher fee applies across all services, but we will continue to offer bulk billing for the eligible groups mentioned above.
Are There Additional Fees That I Have To Pay?
Under the new billing system, gap fees may apply for some consultations. These are the out-of-pocket costs after Medicare processes the rebate. However, there are no co-payments or hidden fees for bulk-billed consultations. Here’s a breakdown of the new fees:
