Iron Infusions
Iron Infusions in Brisbane North | Warner Lakes Family Practice
If you’re experiencing iron-deficiency anaemia or a condition that causes low iron levels, an iron infusion may be an effective treatment to help restore your body’s iron stores.
At Warner Lakes Family Practice, our caring and experienced doctors provide safe and comfortable iron infusion treatments to help you regain your energy and improve your overall wellbeing for patients across Brisbane.
What Is an Iron Infusion?
An iron infusion delivers iron directly into your bloodstream through a vein (IV line). This allows your body to absorb iron more efficiently than through tablets, helping to quickly increase your iron levels to a healthy range.
Depending on your needs, your GP may recommend a single session or a course of infusions over time. Your treatment plan will be determined after an initial consultation and review of your recent blood test results.

Fatigue and low energy
Pale skin or brittle nails
Shortness of breath
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Dizziness or light-headedness
Cold hands and feet
Headaches or ringing in the ears
Restless legs syndrome

Who May Benefit from Iron Infusions
You may be a suitable candidate for an iron infusion if you:
Cannot tolerate oral iron supplements
Do not respond adequately to iron tablets
Have an underlying condition affecting absorption (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease)
Are in your third trimester of pregnancy and require rapid iron replenishment
Need a fast increase in iron levels for health or surgical reasons
If you have a history of liver problems, high iron levels, or are in early pregnancy (first 16 weeks), please inform your doctor before your appointment, as these may affect your eligibility.
